Solar panels generate usable energy to power your home during day time operation. There are only two pathways for the energy that is created - one being your household consumption & the other sold back to the provider (Ergon) for a small profit of $0.08/kWh.
By Installing battery storage alongside your panels you can hold onto the energy you would have sold & store it for use during the night, or heavy load times where you would usually purchase electricity at a cost of $0.32kWh.
Without battery storage, you have to sell around 4 units of solar energy you generate during the day, to buy back 1 unit from the provider.
There are two types of battery systems - hybrid & off grid.
An off grid systems is perfect for cabins, holiday homes & 'off-the-beaten-track' applications.
A hybrid system is where your property is connected to grid power, but will prioritize using your battery storage over purchasing from the retailer, & will only use grid power when storage is not available. The battery is connected into your solar inverter & property switchboard to seamlessly provide you with the storeable energy - without needing to change settings.
